BOSTON, Mass., June 08, 2026 — HerAnova™ Lifesciences, a leading life sciences company dedicated to advancing innovative solutions for endometriosis, infertility and other critical unmet needs in women’s health, today announced the safe birth of the first healthy baby conceived using the company’s HerCAPA™ biphasic in vitro maturation (CAPA-IVM) technology platform for assisted reproduction in China. The baby was delivered on May 31, 2026, at Sichuan Jinxin Xinan Women’s and Children’s Hospital (Bisheng Campus), Chengdu, China, one of the country’s leading reproductive medicine centers and is leading the clinical study. Both mother and child are reported to be healthy.

The successful live birth was the first reported clinical pregnancy using HerCAPA™ hormone-free, assisted reproductive technology, originally developed by Lavima Fertility (Belgium). HerCAPA™ is a next-generation oocyte in vitro maturation technology designed to mature immature eggs outside the body using a proprietary biphasic culture system. Unlike conventional IVF protocols, the technology is designed to minimize or eliminate the need for conventional ovarian stimulation medications and hCG trigger injections, potentially reducing treatment burden for patients. HerAnova is the exclusive partner of Lavima Fertility for the development of this technology in Greater China.

The technology has been developed to support women who may benefit from alternative assisted reproductive approaches, including certain patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), those at elevated risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS), and individuals seeking lower-burden fertility treatment options. HerCAPA™ also has potential for patients with intolerance to conventional ovarian stimulation, and some with fertility preservation needs.
